E&USA is one of a number of Health and Safety Associations working through the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board to provide health and safety solutions to firms in Rate Groups 833 (generation); 835 (oil, power and water distribution); 830 (power, line clearing and telecommunications lines contracting); and 983 (communications industries).
Our vision - "To relentlessly pursue the paths to zero" - encompasses every industry and deals with all aspects of health and safety. In 2000, we became the first (and, we believe, the only) organization to publicly declare our intention to eliminate all lost time injuries by the year 2011. The strategy to make it happen called for a managed approach to safety that would identify potential hazards, categorize risk levels and maintain controls. This is the basis for ZeroQuest®.
In 2005, the Association proclaimed its mission to guide its members in building sustainable health and safety systems using ZeroQuest® as a framework. While every firm is unique, ZeroQuest® is designed to ensure that any company’s health and safety system has the components necessary to succeed.
ZeroQuest® is comprised of four levels:
• Commitment
• Effort
• Outcomes
• Sustainability
Each level builds upon the previous one. The goal of ZeroQuest® is to guide participants through the process of building a sustainable health and safety system. By becoming involved in the process – through such initiatives as sharing best practices and joining working groups - individual firms working their way through the program will find themselves becoming contributing members of an interdependent community of companies with similar needs and qualities… all working together to achieve zero injuries.
